My wife, Emma, our daughter, Lila, and I moved to Cambridge in August of 2018. We are very excited to be a part of Christ Lutheran Church and its Pre-school.
As a pastor, I know there are a lot of questions out there concerning church. What brings a person to a church? Why enter our doors, one across the road, down the street or that one with family history? Why are beliefs so important and why do so many churches hold to different belief systems? Who is right? Who is wrong? Is there a right or is there a wrong?
I pray that you would give this church the opportunity to talk with you and your family about those very important questions. What you will hear is not religion according to Sam Biebert, my opinions or thoughts. That would only be one sinner telling another sinner how to live their life and there is nothing about me that makes me qualified to do that. Rather, everything must and will come from the Word of God who alone is “The way, the truth and the life.” John 14:6
I have had the priviledge of attending Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN and Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon, WI where for 8 years I got to study the Bible and what it has to say to you, me, and all people. While that education definitely serves me well, it also does not mean I or any Christian ever reaches a point where they know it all, but at the same time, I would love nothing more than to share what God says in his Word as well as grow with you, where ever you may be, in your walk of faith.

Cliss’ teaching experience began in the fall of 1985 when she was assigned to teach grades K-4 at Peace Ev. Lutheran School in Granger, Indiana. She taught there until 2000 before she took a one year leave of absence to teach at Nozomi Lutheran School in Tsuchiura, Japan. After the completion of her year in Japan, she returned to Peace.
In 2001, Cliss left Peace to teach in Beijing, China. She taught middle grades there for three years. In 2005, she returned to the states to start Building Blocks for Life Preschool at Christ Ev. Lutheran Church in Cambridge, Minnesota.
She feels very blessed to have been given the privilege to share the love of Jesus with so many children and adults at home and abroad.
Cliss received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Dr. Martin Luther College in 1985. She has completed numerous summer school classes since 1985 to further her understanding of current educational strategies and philosophies.

Abby comes to us from Baraboo, Wisconsin.  Abby is currently attending Martin Luther College, but is taking this year as an emergency teacher to teach at our preschool.

Abby’s step-dad is an engineer and her mom is a teacher, teaching Art and Physical Education.  She will be receiving her Master’s Degree from MLC.  Abby has three older sisters and one younger brother.  She attended grade school at St. John’s Lutheran School in Baraboo and high school at Baraboo Public High.

Abby loves children, animals, birds and plants.  She also loves the outdoors, especially hiking and canoeing.  She said she couldn’t live without birds because they are so beautiful and she loves watching them.

Abby chose to become a teacher because she loves children and because of her mom.  She loved helping her mom correct papers and enjoyed helping the Kindergarteners with the Reading Buddy Program.  She and her siblings played school at their grandma’s and Abby was always the teacher.

Abby is looking forward to this school year where she will be able to grow in confidence in teaching.

In her free time, Abby loves to read, watch old TV shows and spend time with her family.

Abby is very excited about experiencing life in Cambridge and getting to know our church family and her preschool children.
